5 Morning Habits That Changed My Life
Starting your day right sets the tone for everything that follows. After years of coaching clients and experimenting with my own routine, I've narrowed down the five morning habits that have had the most profound impact on my health and happiness.
1. Wake Up with Gratitude
Before reaching for your phone, take three deep breaths and think of three things you're grateful for. This simple practice shifts your mindset from reactive to proactive and has been shown to increase overall happiness by up to 25%.
2. Hydrate First
Your body has been fasting for 7-8 hours. Start with a large glass of water with lemon to kickstart your metabolism, aid digestion, and rehydrate your cells. I recommend drinking at least 16oz before your morning coffee.
3. Move Your Body for 10 Minutes
You don't need an hour-long workout. Just 10 minutes of stretching, yoga, or a brisk walk can boost your energy levels, improve circulation, and enhance mental clarity for the entire day ahead.
4. Fuel with a Nutrient-Dense Breakfast
Skip the sugar-loaded cereals and opt for a balanced meal with protein, healthy fats, and fiber. My go-to is a smoothie bowl with berries, spinach, protein powder, and chia seeds.
5. Set Your Intention
Take 2 minutes to write down your top priority for the day. This creates focus and purpose, helping you avoid the trap of busyness without productivity.
Start with just one of these habits and build from there. Small, consistent changes lead to remarkable transformations over time.
